New sword 8
Challenge of Hojoji style naginata
A naginata originally no-signature, attributed to "Hojoji"
Blade length 80.6cm
Of course, no one know if this is made by Hojoji smith or other smith.
The only one Hojoji Kunimitsu I have ever studied in my hand is tanto.
It has a straight pattern hamon, and famous as "Hon'nami Hojoji"
of Maeda family.
Anyway there is a legend that Hojoji Kunimitsu was a master to make big
naginata, and this naginata is typical one what is so-called Hojoji style.
I went to the Ohtaki castle where this naginata is stored. It was displayed
in the window. I was surprised with the actual blade, since it is far bigger
than I imagined. The hamon is made of small particles (ko-nie). It is bright,
and its pattern is choji. Of course utsuri appears. So the total taste
is like Yoshioka-Ichimonji.
