Macedonian knife
blade length 15cm, thickness at the base 4mm, width 2.6cm
This was owned by an archeologist. He said this is a knife of Macedonia
7th century. The handle is wrapped with copper band.
One side is polished in Japanese style to study it.
The steel construction looks the two blocks. The body (or back) steel is soft, and it has a flowing layer pattern.
The edge steel is hard enough, since it has bright hamon. Its layer is
very compact.
Hamon is bright, made of small particles. Its pattern is ko-midare and
choji. It looks like the hamon of Ichimonji.
