Radiate design Tauba in real fight
77mm x 72mm thickness at the rim 6mm, at the centre 5mm
This is a good tsuba with simple design of radiate sunshine. The cut out
work and the turned up rim is very skilful, and the steel is good.
There is one more interesting appearance as well as its quality. It has
some cutting marks on the reverse side, that came from sword fight in old
day. The attacks by the enemy might be four times or so. And they were
so hard that the edge of the tang hole became turned up.
We are very impressed by this tsuba to imagine the samurai who put it on
his sword. He liked such a simple and powerful design and fought looking
enemy's eyes.
Was the enemy's attack four times or five times?
This tsuba may be come from Edo period, 17th to 19th century.
